Spitzer Art Center is a turn of the century house dating back to the mid 1890's. While we strive to maintain the historic character of the house, we also have many renovations that still need to be done to make the Center more comfortable for the artists in residence, the employees, and our patrons and monthly gallery artists. This includes adding insulation to the attic and garage to cut down on our heating and cooling costs, as well as make us more environmental friendly. We also need to install a french drain around the garage studio to stop issues with flooding in that space.
Making these updates will also move us towards our long term goals of adding additional classroom and studio space to our attic. This will allow us to provide more working space for local artists, expand our classroom offerings, and increase the number of locally available studios.
