Experiential learning with an emphasis on the arts in a community of faith.
Now in its second century serving Valley families, Eastern Mennonite School K-12 provides a nurturing learning environment for people from a variety of faith traditions and perspectives.

Imagine a learning community that ...

  • Calls students to serve others and to a life of integrity with Jesus as our model
  • Builds academic rigor around each student's unique gifts and passions
  • Emphasizes the inherent worth and dignity of each student as a child of God
  • Meets discipline and accountability with restorative practices
  • Challenges students to think beyond themselves, hear others' stories, and discuss what it means to be a member of a respectful community
  • Integrates art and music, time outdoors, and community building into the curriculum
  • Empowers teachers to teach in a way that called them to the profession in the first place

Experiential Learning
Eastern Mennonite School encourages students to take ownership in their learning, to ask questions, and challenge the norm. Through our experiential program, students reflect on what they have learned, write about it, and think critically.
Experiences outside of the classroom shape graduates for a lifetime of reflective engagement. E-term and Explore Week provide opportunities for students to focus on specific interests, travel, and learn in groups. A bi-annual Discovery trip across the country explores land and water resource challenges.
Our students interact across grade levels with opportunities for older students to mentor younger students. Some high school students serve as teacher, PE, or reading, assistants for younger grades.
The Arts
Choral tradition has been strong since 1917 when the school was launched. Today, students sing in informal and informal settings and select choirs tour internationally every other year. All students participate in our growing strings and band program at some point, beginning in first grade.
In the visual arts, we offer two-dimensional and three-dimensional art education including drawing, painting, sculpting, ceramic pottery, printmaking and both digital and analog photography.
With Gratitude
Donors like you make the Eastern Mennonite School experience possible for more students, so we can serve a wide spectrum of students across our diverse community.

Thank you for helping equip our graduates to shape the communities where they live, across the Valley and far beyond. They are business leaders, educators, healthcare professionals, and serve in church and nonprofit leadership. They are students, volunteers, parents, and friends, engaged and contributing to their communities.
