It's difficult growing up today. Youth face many challenges including high-stakes testing, cyber-bullying, drugs, gang activity, and teen pregnancy. When coupled with environmental risks - such as an absent or incarcerated parent, limited English proficiency, or living at or below the poverty level - the challenges can be overwhelming. Kids can be one or two risky decisions away from setting the course of their lives in a difficult direction.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Harrisonburg-Rockingham County provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported, one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.

Among other improvements, children with a mentor:
-   get better grades
-   avoid risky behaviors
-   have higher self-confidence
-   form more positive relationships with family & peers
-  and set higher goals for themselves

Mentors provide guidance and support at a time when children are most vulnerable to help them make positive choices and stay on a path to reach their full potential. Each year, our agency serves nearly 600 local youth.

100% of your donation will remain in our community to support children and families in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.
